Props to Mrs. Mando for digging this one up. I had never heard of Eva Cassidy (apparently, neither had anyone else while she was alive) until last night.

Mrs. M was listening to a beautiful tune, "Songbird" I think, when dumb-ass me says "Who's that?" She looks at me like I have 7 heads - types a couple things into her computer and says "Sit, watch and listen." in her best 'she who must be obeyed' voice.

What a beautiful voice and tragic loss. Is it okay for dudes to get teary-eyed?

I spent the next 4 hours watching everything she had on You Tube I could find.

I know Michah will get his bowels all in an uproar, but it is my opinion that Nora Jones couldn't carry Eva Cassidy's empty guitar case.....

Thank you. And Mrs. M. This certainly is one of those you get shown the light in the strangest of places moments. Guess I agree with you about the Norah Jones comment too.

Gotta say I like FWMac's arrangement better though. And that's what makes the world go round.

Etta James, Judy Garland and Christine McVie. Some company and Eva fits right in. What a sad story (yeah we dudes can cry - in front of our wives (maybe), selves (mostly) or only when appropriate). Watch her last song performed, What a Wonderful World, a few weeks before her death and you out there may have a moment. I hope when the Big C finally takes me away I can show as much grace. Probably not though.

Very nice thread Mando. Here's What a Wonderful World.

She had a beautiful voice and it is very sad that her talent went unnoticed. Here are a few you might like.

For what it's worth (not much really), I like Eva Cassidy's music a lot too.

She had the voice of an angel.

I have never heard of her, but will dig into her catalog now, thanks to you and Miss Mando. Simple emotional beauty in her voice. A shame she was taken away so soon.
